Today was my first colour day. Of all my days this one had me a little worried. It had originally sounded great. One day a week where all I had to do was play with colours in my art room. Easy.
I quickly realised I would not have the first idea what to do and decided I needed to at least give myself a subject to start with.
I chose waves as I knew I had a painting I could work from. As I didn't want a lot of mess I chose coloured pencils and spent a lot of time playing with shadows and highlights and getting tones in the water. My courses to date had me thinking about laying and graduating my colours, which added a nice level of detail.
Once I finished with my waves I did a little bit with my watercolours. This started out as simple blending. As fortune would have it my brushes bristles must be on the way out as I kept getting tiny lines. These quickly turned into hair in my eyes and once again a maiden crept onto the page. Not with the usual curly locks, but more of a loose French braid. I do love the colour combination of vibrant green and dark blue. I must play with this more.
